With an emphasis on intellectual curiosity and a student-centered approach to learning, the Avon School K-8 Science curriculum is designed to actively engage students in practices and processes that deepen their understanding of scientific concepts and core ideas. Students participate in scientific investigations and labs that promote inquiry through careful questioning, observation, and articulation. Avon School’s science curriculum is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards, placing emphasis on the integration of engineering and technology into science education. In addition, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) tasks are implemented in each grade-level K-8 utilizing the engineering design loop to foster student problem-solving and innovation.
