🌊☀️ Beach Safety Day☀️🌊 Our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders took their learning to the Avon Beach for an important Beach Safety Program led by the Avon-by-the-Sea Lifeguards. The hands-on experience provided real-world lessons that will help keep our students safe all summer long. A special thank you to the Avon Lifeguards for sharing their expertise and helping our students become more informed and responsible beachgoers. Field Day 2026: An Avon Tradition for Decades: Avon Elementary School's Field Day has been one of our most beloved traditions. It's a day filled with friendly competition, a playground pizza lunch, the ice cream truck and countless moments of joy. More than just games, Field Day is a celebration of community and a reminder of the traditions that connect Avon students across generations. 🦉🔬 6th grade scientists became wildlife investigators during an owl pellet dissection lab! Students carefully examined owl pellets to uncover and identify the bones of small animals that owls have eaten. Through this hands-on activity, they explored food chains, predator-prey relationships, and the important role owls play in local ecosystems. #AvonElementary #HandsOnLearning #FutureScientists #ScienceInAction #OwlPelletDissection

8th grade scientists explored anatomy, structure, and function through a hands-on frog dissection lab. 🐸🔬 Students investigated how body systems work together to support life while practicing observation, analysis, and scientific reasoning skills. Through inquiry, collaboration, and respectful scientific practice, students connected what they observed to larger concepts in life science and human biology. Experiences like these help students think critically, ask questions, and engage in authentic scientific investigation. Our students are prepared to become the problem solvers and innovators of tomorrow. #NGSS #MiddleSchoolScience #HandsOnLearning #STEM #ScientificInquiry #LifeScience #FutureScientists #TheAvonAdvantage

At Avon Elementary School, our Physical Education curriculum goes beyond the gym and into life skills that matter! 🌊🏊‍♂️ Each spring our students participate in water safety lessons at the Neptune Aquatic Center, where they learn essential swimming and water safety skills in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment. From building confidence in the water to practicing important safety techniques, these lessons help equip our students with skills that can last a lifetime. Experiences like these are part of the Avon Advantage. We provide students with meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that support the whole child. 💙💛 #AvonAdvantage #AES #PhysicalEducation #WaterSafety #WholeChild #LifelongSkills #AvonByTheSea #SmallSchoolBigImpact

At Avon Elementary School, kindness is a core value! 💙🌊🐯 Last week we held three events that exemplified this value. Our Kindness Carnival awarded time to classes who exemplified kindness towards others during the past month. Our joyful PreK Carnival Day celebrated community with students, staff, parents and grandparents and filled our playground with laughter and fun. Finally, our students painted rocks and shells with inspirational messages for our growing Kindness Garden. Our hearts are full with beautiful reminders that small acts of kindness can make a big impact. These experiences help our students build connections, celebrate one another, and create a school community where everyone feels they belong. We are so proud of the joy, teamwork, and compassion our students bring to AES every day. #TheAvonAdvantage #AESKindness #SmallSchoolBigHeart

We were proud to recognize Maeve Roenbeck at the May 13 Board of Education Meeting for her outstanding work as our top fundraiser in the annual Jump Rope for Heart event. Each year students at Avon Elementary School participate in Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart. In the weeks leading up to the event, students learn about healthy heart habits, the importance of exercise, and ways to live a heart-healthy lifestyle. They also support an important cause by raising donations for the American Heart Association. At Avon Elementary School, we are proud to see our students combining wellness, leadership, and community service to make a positive impact beyond our classrooms. #TheAvonAdvantage #HeartHealthy #JumpRopeForHeart #HoopsForHeart #SmallSchoolBigImpact
