class of 2026

Students, families, faculty, and community members gathered on June 22 to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2026 during a memorable Eighth Grade Commencement Ceremony. The event marked an important milestone as students reflected on their  years as students of Avon Elementary and looked ahead to the opportunities awaiting them in high school.

The ceremonies were presided over by Superintendent/Principal Ms. Cathy Danahy, who welcomed graduates and guests and congratulated the students on their accomplishments. In her remarks, Ms. Danahy praised the Class of 2026 for its resilience, character, and commitment to academic excellence, encouraging students to continue pursuing their goals with confidence.

A highlight of the evening was the student addresses delivered by Izayiah Kass, Scarlett Gamble, and Elle Farrell. Each speaker shared personal reflections, memories, and words of encouragement, capturing the experiences and friendships that defined their middle school years. Their heartfelt messages celebrated both the achievements of their classmates and the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.

The graduation address was delivered by Mr. Ken Child, a highly respected community leader and former President of the Board of Education. Mr. Child inspired graduates with thoughtful advice about leadership and service, and the importance of making a positive impact in their communities. Drawing from his years of experience and dedication to public education, he encouraged students to embrace new challenges and remain committed to lifelong learning.

Throughout the evening, students were recognized for their hard work, growth, and contributions to the school community. Faculty members joined families in applauding the graduates as received their diplomas, marking the successful completion of their AES school journey.

The ceremony concluded with a slide show of memories produced by Ms. Maria Irace, yearbook advisor.

As the graduates celebrated with family and friends, they left with lasting memories and the confidence to begin the next chapter of their educational journey.

Our entire school community extends its congratulations to all members of the Class of 2026 and wishes them continued success in the years ahead.
