The Avon Elementary School community gathered at The Columns for its annual Athletic Awards Dinner, a special evening dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments, dedication, and sportsmanship of student-athletes throughout the 2025-2026 school year.
The event honored students who participated in Avon’s athletic programs, including boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, baseball, and softball. Athletes, coaches, families, and community members came together to recognize a year filled with teamwork, perseverance, and school pride.
Athletic Director Carrie Becker welcomed attendees and thanked the coaches for their commitment to developing not only athletic skills, but also character, leadership, and sportsmanship in Avon’s student-athletes.
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of Avon’s graduating eighth-grade athletes. Each eighth grader was honored for their contributions to Avon athletics and received a commemorative blanket and a varsity letter "A" as a lasting reminder of their dedication to the school’s athletic programs. The awards were presented by Maggie Kinkela on behalf of the Avon Home and School Association, which generously sponsored the event.
The evening also featured the presentation of individual athletic awards recognizing outstanding achievement throughout the year.
The prestigious Mahon Award for Athletic Achievement was presented to Cory Child and Lola Johnson. This award recognizes student-athletes who have demonstrated exceptional athletic ability, commitment, leadership, and sportsmanship during their time at Avon Elementary School.
As the school year comes to a close, Avon Elementary School congratulates all of its student-athletes, coaches, and families on a successful athletic season and thanks everyone who contributed to making this year’s program a tremendous success. The dedication, teamwork, and perseverance demonstrated by these students have made the entire Avon community proud.
