Environmental presentations

Our 2026 Earth Day event was a meaningful example of student leadership, collaboration, and community partnership.

In collaboration with the Avon Environmental Commission, students across all grade levels came together for a day of environmental learning and engagement.

Fifth, sixth, and seventh grade students researched environmental topics, prepared presentations, and shared their learning with younger students. Topics focused on environmental responsibility, conservation, and ways students can make a positive impact in their communities.

Eighth grade students also played an important role in the event by assisting younger students during activities and documenting the day through photography, helping capture moments of collaboration and learning across grade levels.

The event was organized and led by teacher Corinne Lynn, whose planning and attention to detail helped create a seamless and engaging experience for students and staff alike.

“Partnering with the Avon Environmental Commission for our Earth Day celebration created an authentic learning experience where students not only deepened their understanding of environmental responsibility, but also had the opportunity to lead, teach, and learn from one another in meaningful ways,” said Superintendent/Principal Cathy Danahy.

The celebration also highlighted the strong partnership between Avon Elementary School and the broader Avon community. The Avon Police Department supported the event throughout the day with a visible presence around town and assistance from crossing guards to help ensure student safety during activities.

Through collaboration, leadership, and hands-on learning, the Earth Day celebration reflected Avon Elementary School’s commitment to creating meaningful educational experiences that connect students to both their school and community.
