Avon School History

A Century of Learning

Located at the corner of Fifth and Lincoln Avenues, Avon School first opened its doors in 1908. Before the building was completed, students in grades up to six attended classes in the back room of R.C. Love’s real estate office at Garfield Avenue and Main Street. Older students made their way up the road to the old Neptune High School in Ocean Grove.

Since its original construction, Avon School has undergone numerous additions and improvements, reflecting the community's ongoing commitment to education. Most importantly, it has served as a cornerstone of learning for over 100 years. Today, the school continues to thrive as a preschool through grade 8 facility, dedicated to nurturing the minds and futures of Avon’s children.
